WYN-BG: Empowering Communities Through Beekeeping And Agroforestry Value Chain

ABOUT WYn-bg
Founded in Ghana, built on community…
WYN-BG was founded in 2019 to help rural women discover honey’s natural healing power for their communities. What started as a natural remedy became a pathway to economic independence. Today, we train women and youth across rural Ghana in the full beekeeping value chain, from hive management to honey sales, so they control their businesses and their futures. So far, we’ve trained 1,500+ women and youth and created 6,000 jobs.

What makes wyn-bg UNIQUE
Building Sustainable Livelihoods

-
Full Value Chain Training
We train women and youth in every stage of the beekeeping process: managing hives, processing honey, selling bee products, and training other members of their community to do the same.
-
Fair Market Access
We buy honey directly from women at fair prices and handle transport to urban markets. This ensures a reliable income that goes toward housing, schooling, clothing, and everyday living expenses.
-
Integrated Beekeeping and Agroforestry
Our model combines beekeeping with sustainable agriculture, using practices that protect the surrounding ecosystem. Where conventional approaches can damage crops and land, WYN-BG prioritises methods that work with nature rather than against it.
VOICES FROM WYN-BG’s Community

“Through beekeeping with WYN-BG, I was able to build my dream house for my family. Now all three of my children are in Senior High School. This program gave me the skills and support to create a better future for them.”
– Beatrice Adubea

“WYN-BG gave me leadership opportunities and the chance to grow in agribusiness. Through our empowerment initiatives, I’ve been able to support women and youth farmers across Ghana. In 2025, I was awarded Youth Leader of the Year by the Ghana Youth Leaders and Excellence Awards.”
– Joana Paintsil

“WYN-BG trained me in beekeeping, but they also taught me how to train others. Now I teach farmers in my community about beekeeping and marketing bee products. I went from learning to leading, and that’s changed how I see myself and what I can do.”
– Maud Odai
